Disease prevention
Combination vaccine vaccine
Puppies inherit immunity from their mother's first milk immediately after birth. This is called transitional antibodies. The effect of this is almost completely lost in the first 40 to 90 days after birth. This is a very dangerous period, as resistance to disease is lost accordingly. To prevent infection during this period, the first vaccination is given between 40 and 60 days of age. However, the vaccine cannot be fully effective if the mother has any remaining immunity. To ensure immunity, an additional second vaccination must be given 3-4 weeks afterwards.
